ADHD is a persistent pattern of inattention and/or hyperactivity- impulsivity that is more frequently displayed and more severe than is typically observed in individuals at a comparable level of development. Based on anecdotal reports, ADHD appears to be more prevalent in athletes than non-athletes, possibly because those with ADHD are drawn to physical activity, this, thereby, being an example of athletes choosing the athletic arena as a means of coping with a disorder (…). However, no systematic studies of the prevalence of this disorder among athletes have been published.
